This Summer you will find me embracing two things more often: 1) the Southwestern style I normally shy away from and 2) curls. As I mentioned in this post, I had a recent revelation about my curly hair. Partly due to finding AMAZING new curly hair products and partly due to the desire to be more true to my natural self. So I decided to give my brazilian blowout a break and let the curls fly.
Devacurl is a new brand to me. I have been using products for years that ended up giving me crunchy or lifeless curls so I did not want to do curly hair at all and therefore, labored over straightening it every day. When I tried this line out, I didn't have very high expectations, but, holy miracle, I was so surprised when just from using their shampoo and conditioner with the micro-fiber towel (very important) I noticed a HUGE difference. The curls were already taking great shape right out of the shower. I started out with this curl discovery kit, which I highly recommend if you aren't ready to make the commitment to full sized versions yet. Plus it comes with that vital micro-fiber towel that you need. I might have bum rushed Ulta the next day to get full sized versions of these. I love using this gel and these clips for max volume. Follow the instructions and let your hair air dry as much as possible before using low-cool heat on your diffuser. I recommend this universal attachment or this for a diffuser.
There are so many different options for your hair type, go here to find out what type of curl or wave you are, I think I am in between wavy and botticelli. You can go as defined or natural, wild or sleek as you like. So far, I am experimenting with mixing this gel with a little of this one to create my perfect curl and have also come to like this volumizing foam for the roots. You will be surprised at how much curl you actually have! If you are skeptical as to whether curls are really back, check out your latest JCrew Style Guide. I so look forward to creating different curly styles with Devacurl and having the option to mix up my look even more.

What do you think about experimenting with waves and curls this year? Will you be trying it out as the humidity rises this summer?
